Youth Leadership Symposium: Building Leaders, Fostering Faith

Ohio Northern University will be the host for a Youth Leadership Symposium at the university on April 28. The symposium begins at 10:00 a.m. and concludes at 4:00 p.m. ONU is located in Ada, Ohio.

The Youth Leadership Symposium is sponsored by the Department of Philosophy and Religion at Ohio Northern University and the Office of Next Generations Leadership of the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Katherine Turpin, associate professor of religious education at Iliff School of Theology, will be the keynote speaker for the symposium. She will deliver two keynote addresses: “Targeted: Adolescent Faith Development in Consumer Culture” and “Beyond Branding: Faith Communities that Challenge Consumer Faith.”

Turpin is the author of Branded: Adolescents Converting from Consumer Faith (Pilgrim Press, 2006).

The keynote addresses will be addressed to all participants; however, separate learning tracks will be offered, one for adults and one for youth.

The registration fee of $15 for adults and $5 for youth includes lunch.

The Youth Leadership Symposium strives to build leadership for fostering faith in youth ministry programs by providing quality continuing education for both adults and youth in leadership positions in their congregations.
