Light of the World to Celebrate African Sunday

with 2 comments

Light of The World Christian Church is declaring September 20, 2009 as African Sunday. At the 10:00 a.m. service that day, the church will honor those born on the African continent. A reception will follow the service.

Bishop T. Garrott Benjamin, Senior Pastor and Resident Bishop at Light of the World, feels that it is past time for African-Americans and those born on the African continent to get to know one another.

  1. This bringing together Africian born Americans is a great idea. After just visiting that hugh continent, I wish to help out native Africans still in Africa. I am helping Anchor of Hope Charities a small Indianapolis based organization which is building school in Africia. We work closely with the Medthodist Medical teams that travel to Africa and Coach Ron Hunter. Check our webb out http://www.anchorofhopecharities.org
We need 6 thousand dollars to finish a doormatory/school before ths rainy season
in October. We are hosting Africian Art Auction (donationg our recent purchases) September 2 & 3 at the IU Medical school in Fairbanks Hall off 10th street and a Golf tournement September 22 at River Glen Country Club. Could you take up a special offering on the 20th to help us help 124 orphans in Zambia ,Africa? This is only our third year to help them. They have secured land, purchased 100 bannana plants, drilled a well and built four buildings. Their educational scores are very high. The kids are tested for aids and receive a good christian education as wekk as foundation of Faith. We just visited them to see the building and it is beautiful but needs a roof and finishing touches. They woke us up and sang us to sleep each day with gospel songs and prayers. Why not honor the Africians still in Africa (as they too try to better themselves)along with those who are here in America? Can you please help us? More background on myself: I am a Disciple at Central Christian Church in Connersville. I attended 200 year celebration convention this year and have seen your wonderful place in prior years. I applyed for aid from Disciples for my recent Mission Trip to Africa but was too late for I have not received any finicial help yet. I am called by God to this small organization as I tried to go through our Disciples with no responce two years ago when they planed to go to the Congo. I am continuelly awakened how God works miricals and feel sure the roof will be on before rainy season this year. Praise God for helping my small town too!!! Thank you for your support and time. In Him, Billie Bertch
