Light of the World Hosts Children’s Blessing Service
Light of the World Christian Church in Indianapolis, as a response to recent child deaths in Indiana, hosted a children’s blessing service on Sunday, November 22. The service was a call to action against childhood violence.

New Revelation Launches Worship
220 worshippers crowded into Eastwood Middle School in north Indianapolis for the opening worship service of New Revelation Christian Church on September 20, 2009. Richard Reynolds serves as the lead planter for New Revelation.
Reynolds is a graduate of Christian Theological Seminary and was ordained in July at Light of the World Christian Church.
New Revelation currently holds worship services at Eastwood Middle School, located on the north side of Indianapolis, just east of Allisonville Road on 62nd St. Services begin at 12:30 p.m. each week.
Pastor Reynolds initial message launched a sermon series on “Birth of a Nation” with a sermon entitled “The Delivery Room.”
New Revelation is jointly sponsored and supported by Light of the World Christian Church and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Indiana.
Light of the World to Celebrate African Sunday
Light of The World Christian Church is declaring September 20, 2009 as African Sunday. At the 10:00 a.m. service that day, the church will honor those born on the African continent. A reception will follow the service.
Bishop T. Garrott Benjamin, Senior Pastor and Resident Bishop at Light of the World, feels that it is past time for African-Americans and those born on the African continent to get to know one another.
Light of the World to Host Forums on Domestic Violence
Light of the World Christian Church announces the latest in its series of Real Talk Forums. On August 5 and 12, Domestic Violence Forums will be hosted by Bishop T. Garrott Benjamin Jr. along with community experts in the field, personal testimonies and organizations who have taken on the fight against Domestic Violence.
The forums will begin at 7:00 each evening and will be held at the church. Light of the World Christian Church is located at 4646 N. Michigan Rd. in Indianapolis.

Light of the World Ordains Five to Christian Ministry

Bishop Benjamin and other ministers lay hands on the candidates for ordination and anoint them with oil.
On Sunday, July 12, The Christian Church in Indiana, Light of the World Christian Church and Bishop T. Garrott Benjamin, Jr. ordained five ministers into the fellowship of Christian Ministry. This is the second time five candidates have been ordained in a single service during Bishop Benjamin’s 40 year tenure at Light of the World.
Greetings and the Affirmation of Faith were given by Rev. ILUMBE Ndjongo, Principal Supervising Pastor, Mbandaka District of the 10th Community–Disciples of Christ in the Congo.
The new ministers are Rev. Oscar E. Banks, IV, Rev. Carla Hall, Rev. Lisa Johnson, Rev. Toneko Kayzer, and Rev. Richard Reynolds. Bishop Benjamin charged the new ministers to keep Christ first.
Rev. Banks will be an associate pastor, serving in Kingston, Jamaica. Reverends Hall and Johnson will serve at Light of the World. Reverends Kayzer and Reynolds will serve at New Revelation Christian Church, a new church start of which Rev. Reynolds is the founding pastor.
Light of the World to Host Ecumenical Service for Black Expo
Bishop Henry Williamson, Sr., will be the speaker at an ecumenical worship service at Light of the World Christian Church in Indianapolis on July 9 at 7:00 p.m. The service is part of the opening of the Indiana Black Expo, which will continue through July 19.
Bishop Williamson is Presiding Prelate for the 9th Episcopal District of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, based in Los Angeles, Calif.
Dr. T. Garrott Benjamin, Jr., serves Light of the World as Senior Pastor and Resident Bishop.
Light of the World to Begin Study on Relationships
On Wednesday evenings in June, members of Light of the World Christian Church in Indianapolis will gather for a special study on relationships. The study will give a Biblical perspective on Steve Harvey’s book, Act Like a Lady; Think Like a Man. The Wednesday evening sessions will begin at 7:00 and end at 9:00, and the study is open to all who wish to attend.
Light of the World Pastor Featured in Indianapolis Monthly
Rev. Mmoja Ajabu, Minister for Social Concerns, was the subject of a feature article in Indianapolis Monthly. The article covers Rev. Ajabu’s sojourn from son of an Indianapolis preacher to leader of the Indiana Black Panther Militia. The story also describes his return to his Christian roots, his preparation for ministry and service as a staff minister at Light of the World Christian Church in Indianapolis.
The article abstract states: “As leader of the Indianapolis Black Panther Militia in the 1990s, Mmoja Ajabu bred hate and anger in the name of social justice. When his son was convicted in a horrific murder, he incurred the wrath of the entire city. Now, Ajabu has returned to prominence as a preacher like his father before him. But can he be redeemed?”
